Yelp required a card from me for ID for what they called a coupon or some kind of trial for ads as part of a domain set up. I did not seek them out or even have a need for their service but, I was curious as to why and what they had to offer, since I was supposedly getting something "free" for a month.

We had not and still have not finished setting up the nonprofit.

I've been volunteering my time for 2 and 1/2 years to a local community. Once I realized that the advertising dollars they were offering me would not benefit us, I stopped setting up the account. When I actually accessed the "account" once I saw this charge come through, I saw it's only 50% completed but yet I still needed to "cancel" it??? I took screenshots before I did, proving my case.

Even though I hadnt even verified my email or completed set up, it did not stop them from trying to charge my card $257 for advertising for a nonprofit that is legally non-existent, as of yet .

I filed a claim and I've been told it will come off hold, I hope it does for the sake of all involved. The point is that this is misleading, deceptive and harmful billing practice and in my personal opinion, fraudulent.

This type of practice has got to stop. I will be filing a complaint with Federal Regulators on online billing practices.

Reason of review: Problems with payment.
